Description
Inspired by the photographic language of Richard Avedon, this project explores his approach to portrait and fashion photography through two images built around a single object: an umbrella. Shot on the same camera model used by Avedon, the project embraces the imperfections of analog photography, from its characteristic grain to hand-developed black-and-white prints. The portrait captures a woman from an affluent background at the moment she lets go of appearances, revealing a genuine smile. The umbrella becomes an extension of her freedom and joy. In contrast, the packshot presents a solitary worker beneath the same umbrella. With his lowered gaze and isolated composition, the image conveys introspection and quiet melancholy. With Anaïs Voeffray, Mitra Mozaffari and Rawan Naoura. Special thanks to Benoît Lapray
